Piles Treatment in Chennai

Piles also known as Haemorrhoids are swollen blood vessels in or around the anus and rectum. The haemorrhoidal veins are located in the lowest part of the rectum and the anus. Sometimes these veins swell and the vein wall stretched, and irritated by passing bowel movements. Haemorrhoids are classified into two categories :
 Internal and External

Internal Haemorrhoids - occurs inside the rectum that you can’t see or feel. They don’t usually hurt because there are few pain sensing nerves in the rectum. Bleeding may be the only sign to recognize it.

External Haemorrhoids - it lies within the anus and you can see and feel it. Blood clots are sometimes form which cause extremely painful condition called Thrombosis. It looks rather frightening and turn purple or blue in color.

Causes :
The blood vessels around the anus and in the rectum will stretch under pressure and may cause swell or bulge. This swelling is caused due to : 
  • Chronic constipation 
  • Lifting heavy weights 
  • Chronic diarrhea 
  • Pregnancy stage
  • Straining when passing a stool
The risk of developing piles grows with age.

Symptoms of piles :
  • Itchy or sore skin around your anus
  • A lump in or around your anus
  • Pain and discomfort after a bowel movement
  • After going to the toilet, a feeling that the bowels are still full
  • Bleeding when you have a bowel movement

Diagnosis :
Physical examinations include Digital rectal examination, Proctosigmoidoscopy, and Visualization of anoderm. Haematological tests are done for diagnosing infections, anaemia. Anoscopy is done for finding the presence of any proximal diseases.

Treatments :
Nowadays, advanced Piles Treatments are available. Patients are referred to surgical intervention and long term monitoring to avoid the potential risks associated with haemorrhoids. In medication, stool softeners such as docusate sodium (Dulcolax) help to avoid straining by softening the stool. Mild astringents are prescribed to relieve itching and analgesics.
